you ask why i do this...why would I not.....

having done a few self-designed challenges now - 90days swimming, 100days100beaches, 46days46hikes, 47days47(horse)rides and now 48days48sunrises i can only keep wanting to do them

they add to my life, they change my life, they make my life worth living my way and in turn some of the people I have met along the way have been inspired to set their own challenges, taking their own bull by the horns and doing things their way

and if I have inspired only one person along the way of each challenge - then I feel I have added something to my community by being true to myself so they could be true to theirs.

initially each challenge idea starts out with a nagging thought... time to do something but not yet sure of what it is or when it will start... just something, something new

and this one was no different. for a long time now I have wanted to do another challenge to celebrate turning 48yrs this year but it just was not seemingly possible. feeling a bit more than sluggish in the morning, the idea of sunrises started teasing me as a possible...

then one day it just felt like that day was the day and it begins...

getting my lazy-butt-outta-bed and into nature, walking, breathing, appreciating, observing, experiencing, being a tourist in my own town, meeting new people, meeting people missed over the last year or so, capturing the magic of that morning and that moment and only that moment. thinking about tomorrow's morning is not the point.

living in a split second of each morning, as sometimes the early dawning light forces. one minute there, next minute gone and no light to be found.

so I take on my new challenge with an awakened sense of self, revitalised energies and passion to capture the spirit of the world around me with honesty, moodiness, and day beginning freshness

RULES: this one follows a similar path to my previous challenges, every day for 48 consecutive days, regardless of weather, mood, light or lack of funds - I will be up to watch the sunrise from somewhere of my choice in Cape Town. Attempt to capture the spirit of each morning's sunrise at the time. No picture can be retaken another day or time. Only one picture per day will then be posted on both my website and on my facebook photography page - to both share my challenge with those who love to follow what I do, and to assist me in sticking to my guns all they way through to day48. Posting only one photograph is an important part of restraint... the digital world making it all to easy to capture dozens in the face of only one which holds the mystery for me that day... onwards
