Having completed a 90dayTidalPoolDailySwim; a 21DayNoordhoekBeach & a 21day21beaches challenge, it was an achievable enough feeling to want to tackle the 100days100beach challenge that I initially wanted to get to before travel plans & life's priorities decided otherwise...
The Challenge...to visit & capture 100 different beaches in 100 consecutive days in and around Cape Town - whatever the weather, whatever the mood and / or lack of funds for a thirsty petrol tank (and only one beach a day). Capture and post a single photograph per day on Facebook of a 'portrait of that beach' with a stream of consciousness journal entry to accompany each day's adventure.
An exercise in restraint for this ardent photo addict but also an exercise in exercise - but since photography is my passion, of course it's that too.
Untold benefits along the way...photography, exercise, sunshine, unique daily adventures, interesting approachable people, ocean, landscape & portraits, bliss & meditative induced state, healthier eating, calmer more centred, peaceful, tired & sleeping deeply...
An unforeseen benefit and purpose fulfilling result of this crazy-beautiful project, was the inspiration that others I met along the way gained. Many of whom were inspired to take up their own mini-or-maxi challenge - ones that spoke to their dreams. Not copying my version, but finding their own benched dreams to challenge and bring to life.
My first 100DAY100BEACHES exhibition was held in Germany in 2011 and the second in Cape Town as part of the Month of Photography in 2012. I was invited to take part in the Green Art Exhibition in Cape Town, but had to pull out due to changes in funding. I continue to pursue opportunities to promote this project and inspire others to follow their own unique path to happiness.
Thanks for all the support from people all around the world- sometimes so surprising - but always helping me take each day as it came and continuing on from DAY1 to DAY100.... so thank you to all of you!!!!
Following my bliss, enabled me to inspire you to follow yours.... what else is there to do as a human!
